After scouring the web, it appears that the "it" jeans on the horizon are the kick flare, bell bottom, and high rise straight. I say hold on one minute. For several seasons we have been hearing that the skinny jean era is over.
The kick flare has been around the block before. Remember back in the 90's when we were all wearing them? The downside is cold ankles. While that may not bother you southern states, us northern states need to take that into very serious consideration. I am not totally hating on the kick flare. Don't get me wrong. I do think it is a fun and unconventional trend for spring and summer but I just don't see it having the staying power of the skinny jean. Having said that, I still wouldn't mind owning a pair.I say hold on one minute.
As for bell bottoms, I mean come on. We have been doing the 70's trends over and over again. Don't tell me that this is something new and fresh. I have 3 pairs hanging in my closet that I wear, then put away for a few months, then pull them out again to wear. I might even go so far to say the bell bottom really hasn't gone out for several years. The only change is how wide will the cut be.I do think it is a fun and unconventional trend for spring and summer but I just don't see it having the staying power of the skinny jean.
Now the high rise straight jean is a whole new beast. This to me, while a repeat of the early 80's has been gone for quite some time and definitely seems different this time around. In all honesty, I think people are jumping on this bandwagon for the simple fact that they are comfortable and practicable. Think about it. With fashion moving so diligently towards athleisure, sneakers, low heels, and a looser look it stands to reason we are also looking for that in our denim. Do I think the pendulum will swing back? Absolutely!!! All in due time. The only change is how wide will the cut be.

Do I really believe that skinny jeans are out? No, and I will tell you why. Sure, I can definitely see them moving to the back of the closet for summer. You know why? Because they are about one of the worst things to wear in hotter temperatures. Shorter, looser styles are way more practical and comfortable. Something else to take into consideration. These looser cuts come with a whole new silhouette which means spending more money on tops that work with these cuts. Think things you can tuck in. But, and this is a big but, my belief is that come fall when the temps start getting cooler again one of the first things we will jump back into will be our skinny jeans. With boots and sweater, nothing quite cuts through the cold like that. I think there will be some other denim options as well, but the skinny jean will continue on. At least that is my prediction.Hello, this was where ditressing all began. You couldn't buy this look off the racks.
